SCCC WELDING PROGRAM

Training is taught in a blended format of 180 hours of classroom and lab, with an additional online learning component. Participants will learn the required skills for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (STICK) in the 2F,3F,4F,1G,3G,4G positions. The program will also introduce students to GMAW (MIG) welding, GTAW (TIG) welding, Oxyfuel Gas, and Plasma Cutting. After successful completion of all class testing requirements, students will have an opportunity to test for an AWS D1.1 certification demonstrating 3G and 4G welds on 1" plate.
The program is designed to help any student with or without welding experience meet their welding potential, most students will produce AWS Code quality welds by program end.
Our instructors are AWS Certified Welders , AWS Welding Educators (CWE),
and AWS Certified Weld Inspectors (CWI).
All weld training is aligned to AWS D1.1 structural steel standards.
Tuition includes books, welding gloves, a welding coat, safety glasses, and required welding materials. Students must provide a suitable welding helmet, boots, and other protective clothing.
AWS Certification and Testing fees are an additional cost and are NOT included in the tuition.

Apply for Welding
You may register at Suffolk County Community College for the Welding course in the same way that you can register for any other course: by coming to any of the three campuses and registering in person or online.
New students registering online, must follow the new non-degree student application procedure before registering. Use this form only if you have never attended or applied to SCCC, and you wish to take classes without being admitted to a degree program. Prior applicants can register immediately online. If applying in-person, go to the Registrar department or the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center located on the Grant Campus (Brentwood) in the Sally Ann Slacke building, room 130.
